In this project, an ultra wide band antenna is designed with the help of a square shape. By the method of Fractal technique, the square is reduced in the terms of size, volume. The basic structure considered is a square. The iteration function which is to be applied on the generator which is basic structure is obtained by dividing a square into nine squares of equal size. Same small squares are removed and this gives rise to the first order. Process is then repeated for n number of times to get nth iteration. The directivity and gain is same for the fractal square antenna obtained at the second order. For the fractal second order antenna, the frequency attained is 3.1 to 10.6GHz which is simulated in CST Micro wave studio. The same antenna is fabricated and measured with Network Analyzer and the measured results and simulated results are matched. Here the ground technique used for the antenna is half-arc ground plane. We used half arc ground plane because there will be a soft transmission of current from port to feed so that maximum bandwith can be attained even after the reduction of dimension of the antenna.
This book is concerned with the design, construction and testing of a 1.3GHz microstrip rectangular patch antenna. The patch antenna incorporated a feed-line on the PCB board. The first part of the design of the antenna involved the computation of the dimensions of the patch to achieve a fundamental frequency of 1.3GHz. The accuracy of the computed dimensions was confirmed on an Ansoft Designer simulation package by examining the return loss of the antenna at the resonant frequencies. The second part of the design of the antenna involved the computation of the performance of the antenna. A number of parameters were evaluated which included electric field, E and H planes, radiation pattern, radiation, conductance, directivity and efficiency. The use of approximate formulas, the MAPLE computer algebra package and the MATLAB package were used to evaluate the formulas for predicting the antenna parameters. Computations of the various performance parameters were confirmed on the Ansoft Designer simulator. The microstrip rectangular patch antenna was constructed in the laboratory and tested on a Network Analyzer. The responses showed good agreement with the Ansoft simulation results.

Nowadays, the electricity demand is increasing day by day, and hence it is very important not only to extract electrical energy from all possible new power resources, but also to reduce power losses to an acceptable minimum level in the existing distribution networks, where a large amount of power dissipation occurred. In Myanmar, a lot of power is remarkably dissipated in distribution system. Among several methods in reducing system power losses, network reconfiguration method is employed for loss minimisation, and also voltage profile improvement in this research. Network reconfiguration in distribution systems is performed by opening sectionalising (normally closed) and closing tie (normally open) switches of the network. The benefits of network reconfiguration are loss reduction, voltage profile improvement and freeing up the power system capacity. Exhaustive search techniques, an optimisation tool which is also applied in order to achieve the minimal loss switching scheme. The distribution network for existing and reconfiguration conditions are modeled and simulated by Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) 7.5 version software.
